At CES 2020, Procter & Gamble has introduced a new Oral-B iO 9 toothbrush that promises to be a new era of at-home oral care with new technology, design, and experience. Oral-B iO is a new electric toothbrush with a focus on clinical performance and user experience. This new smart toothbrush complements other smart bathroom accessories that we have seen at CES 2020.
Oral-B iO technology combines micro-vibrating bristles with a round brush head that is powered by a linear magnetic drive system. The traditional mechanical motor was replaced with a friction-less magnetic drive that transfers all energy directly into the bristles tips, producing gentle micro-vibrations for plaque removal while being smooth and quiet.

The most important thing about the Oral-B iO 9 toothbrush is the technological integration, which comes with Oral-B app and connects via a Bluetooth SMART interface. The iO9 provides individual feedback and recommendations via a new 16-zone AI brushing performance analysis (based on thousands of brushing sessions recorded in their research centers worldwide). It also features an OLED interactive display screen that is able to deliver personalized greetings, time tracking, mode display, and battery life information. The toothbrush is able to count up to the dentist recommended bushing time. It has 7 modes including daily clean, sensitive, whiten.
Additionally, iO brushes have a new smart pressure sensor indicating when the user is using the perfect pressure. The pressure sensor keeps you from brushing too hard and informs you when brushing is just right so that gums stay protected. The 3D Tracking and AI recognition help guide you to your best clean for all areas (front, top, and back surface) of the mouth.
The Oral-B iO is battery powered by a click-in-place magnetic charger that delivers a full charge in ~3 hours. It also comes with a premium travel case and refill holder for on-the-go. There’s no pricing information available yet but the Oral-B iO is expected to release later this year.
