A team of physical therapists has created Strig, a self-care massage device for muscle treatment using its concave blade design, microvibration, and microcurrent technology.
Strig was designed to mimic the motion of professional-grade hand massage techniques. Crude vibrations and ball-and-hammer designs rarely provide effective long-term care. However, Strig’s five-point blade design, each meant for a specific area of the entire body, allows its users to receive proper treatment for muscle strains. Some examples of areas that can be treated include: neck, shoulder, back, thigh, fingers and more. It is hard to reach the human muscle tissue as it is located under the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous fat tissue.
Strig is easy to use. You press the power button to turn on, apply the Strig hypoallergenic cream onto the skin, begin massaging using a glide-action motion for 150 seconds, then press and hold the power button to turn it off. There are three different power modes including 8,500 rpm, 12,000 rpm, and 17,000 rpm for adjustable intensity depending on designated massage area. Strig features a contoured edge to massage your face, neck, forearm, and other sensitive submental areas. The middle portion has a broad groove to treat larger areas and tissues including quadriceps, hamstrings, shoulders, and lumbar. At the bottom, there is also a narrow groove for hard to reach points like knuckles, fingers, neck, and wrist. With the three components, the Strig is able provide a full body massage for all body shapes and sizes.

The device also includes a small, yet powerful, micro-vibration motor that works at the most optimal rpm to accelerate muscle recovery, relaxation, and prevent muscle injury by promoting the growth of muscle fibers. Microcurrents work in tandem with the micro-vibrations to permeate through the upper layer of the skin and fat tissues to reach the deepest regions of the muscles. This allows for a more efficient and holistic treatment. In order to prevent muscle soreness, STRIG also reduces the build-up of lactic acid by emitting micro currents throughout the muscle. Unlike the traditional foam rollers, STIG’s microcurrent technology sends low-level electrical currents (25uA) into the skin and fat layers to stimulate the deeper muscle tissues properly. You can actually use the Strig as a stylus with the capacitive touchscreens of your iPhones or iPads because the microcurrents work similarly to our human finger’s electrical conductivity.
Strig is available on Kickstarter as of April 22, 2019 and it has already reached 100% of its $10,000 goal with 973 backers pledging almost $126,858. The Strig is expected to retail for around $180 (USD), however it is available on Kickstarter with early bird price of $109. In the box, you get the Strig, Massage Cream, User Manual, USB-C Type Charging Cable, and Carrying Case.
