Water sports including paddling (SUPing), snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and dinghying can be very exciting and engaging. The opportunity to experience the water and observe underwater life sometimes requires training to operate complicated equipment and a lot of effort. If you have ever wanted some assistant while enjoying the waters, a water jet propulsion system might be the best option for you. Thanks to the power provided by jet propulsion systems, the Paddlers, Snorkelers, and scuba divers will have the confidence and security to go further and explore deeper during their adventures on and under the water.
In order to make your dive more exciting and easier, the LeFeet S1 works by providing on demand propulsion through the water. The LeFeet S1 has a modular design that allows upgrades and accessories to enable wide range of use cases. The LeFeet S1 is an electric jet propulsion system that works as a handheld water motor and sea scooter with a compact design. Thanks to the module design, the LeFeet S1 can transform into a motor engine that can attach to a paddle board, kayak, or any other water crafts. The modular design enables Lefeet S1 to extend the functionality with interchangeable handles, floating accessory to help your kids play safer in the water, as well as a mount for your GoPro to shoot videos underwater. You can also combine two S1s for more power and thrill.
The LeFeet S1 unit has a wireless remote control that has a trigger like design to allow for variable speed control using pressure sensitive sensors. The wireless control design allows you to go faster when you can put more pressure and slow down when you lighten the pressure.
Technical Specifications
The LeFeet S1 features a brushless motor with six stage neodymium magnets that is an external water cooling motor. The G-motor has the capability to go from self cooldown to maximize output of 120 N of pull force under water. The LeFeet S1 also has water pressure sensor and intelligent speed control to ensure that you don’t exceed the vertical speed limit.
The LeFeet S1 will weight 2 kg with top speed of 3.5 mph or 5.6 km/h, with the ability to go 100 ft under water. The unit has dimensions of 310 mm x 302 mm x 151 mm. The motor has ability to produce 550 W of power. The battery capacity is rated at 99 wh with maximum usage time of 60 minutes on economy mode (at 1.9 mph). The battery can be charged within 5 hours.
The Competitors
Let’s have a look at the competitors in the water jet propulsion systems. Yamaha, Whiteshark, and Bixpy are few other competitors that offer similar water motor systems. The LeFeet S1 system has an advantage on all other systems in the areas of weight as it is the lightest system that weighs 2 kg compared to the competitors. This also results in the shortest running time with Bixpy having a running time of 75 minutes, which functions with an external battery pack, which might not be suitable for handheld use. The LeFeet also manages to achieve the highest top speed of 3.5 mph or 5.6 km/h compared to the other systems. The LeFeet is also unique in the sense that it allows for variable speed control thanks to the wireless remote controller. The module design of the LeFeet also allows you to add an additional unit for increased power. Finally, the biggest difference between the LeFeet S1 and competitors is the price point as the S1 starts at around $399 ($239 on kickstarter), where as the handheld competitors range from $700 (Whiteshark MIX) to $775 (Bixpy).
Pricing and Availability
The LeFeet S1 water scooter is available on kickstarter with packages that start at $239 USD (expected to retail for $399), which provides LeFeet S1 kit including a battery, charger and cable, and duel grip kit. The delivery is estimated to start in November 2018 and the unit can be shipped worldwide.
