Have you ever stayed in a hotel room and worried about other people’s germs and bacteria? Well, you would expect that the hotel staff would have cleaned the room after the last guest left. However, this is not always the case and even if the cleaning was performed, it may not have been effective at removing all germs, mold, bacteria, and dust mites.
The microbes are collected on any hard surface that is frequently touched by multiple people. In addition, carpets and bedspread are soft surfaces that can also harbor germs and bacteria. Most hotels change the bed sheets and towels before new guests arrive but not all hotels frequently wash and clean the bedspreads. A study in the American Journal of Infection Control recommends to avoid contact altogether by folding the bedspread back or putting it away and not using it during your stay. The cleanliness of the hotel room mainly depends on how thoroughly the staff disinfects the surfaces. This is also the reason why many people tend get sick while or after travelling. Therefore, it is recommended that you disinfect the surfaces of your hotel room before touching them.
Carrying disinfectant wipes on you could be useful for hard surfaces but they can’t be used on all surfaces. The bed sheets and bedspreads are still very hard to disinfect. Well, the team at Venture Studio has created a pocket-sized smart robot, The CleanseBot, which helps you sanitize and disinfect all surfaces while you are on the go.
The CleanseBot
The CleanseBot is a smart hand-held robot with 18 sensors, four UV-C lamps and artificial intelligence. The UV light helps the robot kill 99.99% of germs and bacteria on ANY SURFACE in about 30-60 minutes. The best part is that you don’t need to supervise the robot as it uses sensors and artificial intelligence to clean the surfaces automatically.
Not only does CleanseBot kill germs, bacteria, and dust mites, but UV-C light has been proven in many studies to actually help prevent the spread of airborne viruses, too.
The CleanseBot is quite amazing as it manages to not fall off the bed thanks to the 18 smart AI sensors that keep the robot going. The robot weighs 220 grams with physical dimensions of 130 mm by 30 mm. The CleanseBot has 3700 mAh battery that charges in 4 hours and provides 3 hours running time.
3 key Features of the CleanseBot
Under Blanket Mode
You can pull the top and bottom half of the CleaseBot apart to reveal the wheels. The robot can then be placed down on any surface, including a bed and underneath blankets, and press the power button once for 30 minute operation and twice for 60 minute operation. The cleansebot uses the four UV-C lights in both directions to clean the surface. This means that the robot can clean the bed sheet and blanket at the same time. The CleanseBot is able to not fall off or not get stuck thanks to the smart AI sensors and mapping technology. The robot is smart as it can turn off the top lights if it is being used on top of the comforter.
Handheld Mode
You can place the handle cover on the CleanseBot to sanitize and disinfect any surface using the handle to pickup and clean any surface. Once again, the bot will use only the bottom UV-C lights to allow you to clean pillow cases, light switches, toilet seats, TV remote, bathroom fixtures, and etc. At home, you can use the handheld mode to sanitize keyboards, cell phones, tablets, and even your car interior.
Power Bank Mode
The CleanseBot includes a 3700 mAh battery, which allows you to use the robot as a portable charger to power your devices using the USB-C port.
Pricing and Availability
The CleanseBot is available on Kickstarter to raise funding for manufacturing and distribution of the robot on a larger scale. The CleanseBot will retail for $259 in 2019 but it is available on Kickstarter for $99 as an early adopter special.
