The Google Photos service was first introduced back in May 2015 to offer a photo sharing and storage service. Google Photos quickly gained popularity as it provided free, unlimited storage for photos (up to 16 megapixels) and videos (up to 1080p resolution). Google Photos offered some key features including recognition technology, search, apps, and fast loading times. Google Photos reached 1 billion users after just four years of initial announcement and over 1.2 billion photos are uploaded to the service every day. The popularity of Google Photos can also be measured in terms of the storage space as over 13.7 petabytes of storage is taken up by the user uploaded content on Google Photos whereas the entire Internet Archive holds almost 40 petabytes.
Currently, Google Photos allows you to turn your digital photos into photo books or canvas prints from CVS Pharmacy and Walmart. You can order same-day prints, canvas prints or photo books (with up to 140 pages) today. Google has now announced that it will be adding two more options for same-day photo printing at Walgreens and using a new premium print series.
Google Photos: Premium Print Series
With Premium Print Series, available in the coming weeks, Google will deliver 10 high-quality photo prints to your door every month.
The premium print series will suggest 10 recent photos to print with the use of machine learning. Before the photos are shipped each month, the users will have an option of editing the photo selection, photo finish (matte or glossy), and adding border to the photos. If you feel that monthly frequency is not right for you then you can also easily skip a month or cancel the service.
Google claims that the photos will last a long time as they are made with cardstock paper. The premium print series will also allow you to turn your photos into postcards for mailing purposes. The premium print series will be available for $6.99 per month, including shipping and before tax.
